It has been a few months since our Annual Meeting in Kingston, MA. There has been significant GWBC activity behind the scenes. The GWBC achieved a major milestone this fall by qualifying as an IRS tax-exempt organization. The GWBC is a 501C3 organization (starting August 30, 2019). This is significant because donations, membership fees can now be deducted per Internal Revenue Code 170. I want to thank Vice President John Kelly and Executive Board Member Annie John for their perseverance working with the IRS and Mass. Secretary of State Office to achieve non-profit status in record time.
Last month, I attended a lecture at Pilgrim Hall (with John Kelly), featuring Dr. David Landon of UMASS Boston. Dr. Landon discussed his most recent archaeological studies around Burial Hill in Plymouth. From his research, they are confident that they have discovered the perimeter of the original Pilgrim Colony Fort, as well as discovering the remains of 2 structures/houses. One of those houses may have belonged to Myles Standish, based on historical documentation. Dr. Donna Curtin, exec. director of Pilgrim Hall, congratulated the GWBC for attaining non-profit status. I'm looking forward to the Plymouth Thanksgiving Parade Saturday afternoon. I want to wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving. Chip Bradford GWBC President
